In business news: things are nuts in the DC west offices, getting tons of things done in our usual pushpushpush near the end of the year sort of way.  Looking forward to getting to release some things.  Short post from me this time around as I’m tilted from busting my new graphics card trying to modify the fans on it (whoops) so I had to order a new one, and for the time being that means I’m running on two monitors rather than three.  Poor baby, I know.

Bush pushes gambling ban via “lame duck” midnight regulation 1

Posted by Entity on November 10, 2008

The Bush Administration is hastily finalizing a number of “midnight rules” before they leave office, and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is on the list. Just like UIGEA was snuck into legislation in the dark of night in 2006, anti-poker extremists are again trying an 11th hour sneak job. We need you to help us expose and stop this reckless rulemaking.

Please call the U.S. Federal Reserve and tell them not to approve the UIGEA regulations — Consumer Complaints, 888-851-1920 or Public Affairs, 202-452-2955.

Tell them:

  • The federal agencies responsible for our nation’s economy should not be focused on Internet poker regulations.

  • Finalization of the UIGEA rules will add additional burdens on our already crippled financial systems.

  • Internet poker is a game of skill and form of recreation for millions of Americans; it should be exempted from the UIGEA.

  • Please do not finalize the UIGEA regulations until their impact on our banking systems and average Americans has been fully studied.

Your call will make a huge difference and will add the public’s voice to these last minute policy decisions our government is poised to make. We can’t stand idly by while they make decisions that will impact our right to play America’s card game. PLEASE CALL TODAY!

Stranger than Fiction

Solid IMO.  4 stars out of 5 on a Netflix scale, 3.75/5 when I can rate it with a non-integer.  Tons of music from Spoon which helped me through the slow moments.  I love Spoon.  PS – I want a Keepon.  Helping make our eventual robot overloads adorable since 2007.

I know that’s not much of an update — the past two weeks have been insane around here and it’s not about to slow down any time in the next two months.  Lots of work going on and two cases of Red Bull recently purchased in preparation for Joe and Chris coming up next week.

When I’m not working, I’ve been streaming 30 Rock via the Netflix Streaming section of their site and I must give them credit; though the quality isn’t always perfec,t streaming is almost always uninterrupted, it looks fine on a 15″ laptop screen (and usually looks fine when plugged into a 42″ HDTV via HDMI — close to DVD quality in general), and I haven’t experienced any significant bugs with authentication.  I’ve always been a big supporter of Netflix and this is no exception; I’m looking forward to getting a new XBOX 360 in the near future and testing out the streaming with it (waiting for confirmed release of Jasper before I buy one).

Beyond all that, I’m going to be grooving on a Mac Pro soon at the office, helping bring me that much closer to being a 100% macfanboi.  My PC is on its last legs for day to day hardcore use  Not much that I can say right now but it should be helpful for me to work on day to day development of some DC projects and I can still run Windows on it for poker stuff whenever I need to.  Holla.
