Welcome back, Tina Fey

I know you’ve been back on SNL for a few weeks for political spoofs, but it was great to see 30 Rock today, especially after a long week of working with Tommy on his series with Wayne.

Super super super busy week

Tommy gets in today to work on the visual aspects of his series w/me, and I’m also starting a 28-day gym challenge (hit gym or run 3mi+ 6/7 days for the next month; eat no junk food, and focus more/be more productive each of those days).  Enjoying some coffee right now and Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals, then from there have to head into the gym then the Westin to do some mega-sized file uploading.

Gonna be pretty crazy for the next few days, but I’m looking forward to it.

Blogging about blogging

Busy week so far for me and haven’t gotten any hands in yet (last session was about 200 hands of PLO last Friday).  So instead of blogging about poker or hands I’ll instead post about what I read on a daily basis.

First of all, my choice RSS application: Google Reader.  I think this is pretty standard, but I may as well give it some mention since people out there still seem to use other clients.  I have no idea why.  I use it on both my iPhone and all my computers, though I do use ReadAir on my office PC (runs nicely in a side monitor).

Now, for the blogs of choice.

kottke.org – One of the most prolific bloggers I’ve ever seen.  Thematically he doesn’t write about much in a specific area, but in general I’d categorize it as educated web 2.0 posts (sorry for buzzwords) — recent examples are references to John Hodgman, David Foster Wallace, and cool iPhone apps.  Good stuff IMO.

Signal vs. Noise – Great web-software posts by Jason Fried of 37signals.com (authors of Basecamp, Campfire, Highrise, and other great web suites).

Paul Kedrosky’s Infectious Greed – Too much for me to keep up with on a daily basis, but great posts to help keep me connected to the finance world.  Interesting stuff even when I can’t follow along 100%.

Seth’s Blog – Thoughts from my personal marketing guru.  ~1-2 posts per day which, regardless of whether or not you agree, raise some very interesting questions about the status of marketing in the web-based world.

Justice Wagon – LDO IMO, obv.

Seth Godin’s latest book.  That makes four that I own now and I’ve recommended each to several friends, as well as his blog.  The writing is accessible but helps form thoughts around concepts of marketing and effective ways to promote yourself and your products as well.

Speaking of: I just created a page on facebook for DeucesCracked. I know I’m a bit behind the times here but I’m hoping to get some fun content up on it in the future and to let it turn into a creation of its own, so we’ll see how that goes.  Become a fan and you might see some sneak previews of things before I put them up on DC, who knows.

Firefox 3.1 beta release

Posted by Entity on October 16, 2008

Not really a ton of news here, but I’m giving it a try.  I enabled their new Javascript engine “TraceMonkey” and it seems like some of my addons (Scribefire) still work fine, though ElasticFox and S3Fox have given up for the time being, which severely limits the use of it.  That said I like trying new betas and seeing how the browser wars are going to shape up, and FF3.1 is already looking like a very good alternative to Chrome.
